April 25th

I am a terrible blog writer – I guess I have gotten a little caught up in life and that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Today is mine and Steve’s 26th wedding anniversary.   It still amazes me how much time has passed us by and quite frankly that we made it through some very rough spots and are still married.   Today I can say we are happy and truly blessed with our lives together.   Is everything perfect …. heck no, but things are darn good.

We had a terrific trip to Europe; Rome and Barcelona.  It was wonderful to spend time with our girls abroad.   We really enjoyed exploring, the history and the culture of each place we went.   I was quite anxious about going, but I stepped out of my comfort zone and I did it and I am sure glad I did.    They say courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the willingness to walk through it  …. words to live by!  My girls will be home from their European adventures soon.  I am so grateful that they both had this opportunity and that we got to join them for part of it.   But as they say …. there is no place like home!

I am still sober and that is a good thing.   I now have 2 girls I sponsor and I am newly appointed to the board at our local AA club.  If those things don’t keep me sober, I don’t know what will.    One of my girls relapsed again last night, I really feel for her as I was a chronic relapser for quite awhile.  I understand the shame and guilt she is feeling.   She was doing so great, but this disease is cunning, baffling and powerful.   I wish I could do more for her, but I know I can not keep her sober, all I can do is be there for her and help her get back on track.   Knowing this doesn’t help me feel much better.   Sobriety is not easy!

Lastly …. I am officially retired from my job with the family business.   I have been keeping busy the last couple of weeks since we have been home from our vacation.   I still have a few assignments I agreed to see to until they hired someone else and that is okay.  I am also still working some with the foundation so at least I will still have a little toe in the business.   It is odd not being a part of what is going with the business, but I was always a little out of the loop and now I am really out of the loop.   I have received several e-mail with questions and concerns so maybe I am not completely gone yet.

Well, I think that is the Life and Times of Me!
